Choosing the right ski resort

05/09/2012

In many places, the summer is coming to an end now, so you can slowly but surely begin to make some plans for your winter holiday. The choice of the right ski destination should not be taken lightly.

Finding a beautiful winter resort with a suitable hotel and especially pistes that correspond to your skills isn’t always that easy. Here are some tips from us, which can assist you in planning.

The most important thing is probably the ski resort. So called blue and red pistes belong to the standard repertoire of nearly every resort and cover needs of most skiers. While blue ski runs are quite easy, red ones should be explored only by experienced skiers. Black slopes are a great fun and a tough challenge – but only for real experts.

If you want to spend your winter vacation with your family, you should also look out for green pistes. There, usually in sheltered ski schools, kids can try there first steps and learn the basics of skiing. In addition, to find the appropriate ski runs, you should always carry a map with you. If amateurs lose the way and find themselves on black pistes it is no longer funny, but dangerous!

When you have found the right ski resort, you have to look for an accommodation. With a few tips, you can save precious money and still enjoy a great winter holiday. Many resorts and hotels have special offers – often as cooperation. So there are some discounts on ski passes for families, "pay 3, stay 4 days" offers, combined tickets for several adjoining ski resorts and much more.

If you look good and hard enough, you’ll also find something and it’s really worth it. You should also think twice about how you’d like to get to your destination. Ski rentals and plenty of alternatives to your car allow you to leave your vehicle at home. If you heed these advices and don’t rush your planning, nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable skiing holiday!
