4 Vallees

Seven villages plus four valleys - the result is a "five-star" ski resort with over 400 kilometres of prepared and marked ski runs for all levels of difficulty.

In addition, there are many natural deep snow areas, which are accessible for safety reasons only in the company of a mountain guide. Several snow parks attract many winter tourists. There are many cross-country ski runs in the valley and in the height, as well as 100 kilometres of broached hiking trails with partly magnificent views.

The 4 Vallées exist since 1976 and they have one of the first major ski-regions in Europe. For those, who know the Welsh's mentality, their stubbornness and their traditions, it isn't self-evident that these four side valleys in the south of the Rhône decided to cooperate for marketing reasons.

Today all the world knows Les Quatre Vallées. Once in a while, there are indeed some disagreements between the companies of the mountain railways, mostly for the matter of upgrading of the lifts. Nevertheless, the villages would never seriously jeopardise their cooperation.

The cooperation includes altogether seven villages: Les Masses and Les Collons with Thyon 2000 in the east, Veysonnaz with Mayens de l'Ours, Nendaz, Siviez and La Tzoumaz/Mayens-de-Riddes, as well as Verbier with Bruson in the Val de Bagnes in the west.
