For many, the Mount Pizol in the Oberland St. Gallen is one of the most beautiful ski resorts in Switzerland east. There is a traditional skiing area between the Rheintal Valley and the mountain shelter Pizol, with very long valley runs.

The 2,844-metre-high summit is a classical tour for ski mountaineering. Especially at weekends many winter tourists from Zurich and from the region around the Lake Constance meet here. Once, even famous Paracelsus visited the region around the Mount Pizol – namely the village Bad Ragaz, which is renowned since the Middle Ages as bathing and spa resort.

But the skiing tradition of Pizol began in the village Wangs. The ski run from the Mount Pizol is considered as one of the longest and most beautiful ones in the Alps.

The ski runs are located predominantly on the northern side of the mountain, from the mountain shelter Pizol towards Pardiel and Furt. The downhill from Furt to Maienberg offers fantastic views over the Rheintal Valley; the five-kilometre-long slope Arvennegg is a challenge for experienced skiers.
