More than hundred years ago, Johanna Spyri wrote here the stories about "Heidi". At that time, the high plateau above the Lake Walen was a modest spa resort. Today, Flumserberg is well attended especially during the winter month.

The first tourists enjoyed the breathtaking panorama over the Lake Walen and the mountains Churfirsten and relaxed in the healthy mountain air or with the famous whey cures of the region. Purportedly, once even Lenin visited the village. Flums is vouched already in 765. Many historic buildings, but also the traditional Shrovetide with eerie wooden masks attest to the long history of the village.

Around the village, there is an apparently endless winter world. Due to the farsighted planning, everyone can satisfy his wishes: ski runs for all levels of difficulty, areas with deep powder snow, well-kept cross-country ski runs, picturesque wintry hiking trails, fun parks and half pipes for snowboarders.

Prodkamm, Maschgenkamm and Leist are the three summits in the ski resort of Flumserberg – together a pretty skiing area. The slopes high above the Lake Walen are mostly easy or moderate, for example those on the popular Mount Prodkamm. Also the ski runs and lifts close to the village Tannenboden are just right for beginners.

The terrain between the mountains Maschgenkamm and Leist is more challenging, including several slopes with deep snow. The marked, but not prepared downhill Terza requires good stamina, because there are to cope more than 1,500 metres difference in altitude. The end of the slope is after Untererzen, only a few metres from the Lake Walen. The valley station of the cable car up to Tannenboden is located next to the railway station. Therefore, especially skiers coming from Zurich can arrive by train.
