The traditional ski resort at the foot of the Mount Brienzer Rothorn hasn’t much in common with the jet set. First of all, families visit the well-managed hotels, guesthouses and chalets, because the vast hillsides above the village are an ideal playground for them. But there are also more challenging ski runs for sporty and ambitious mums and dads.

The unique panoramic view from the Mount Brienzer Rothorn – with 2,350 metres of altitude the highest peak in the canton of Lucerne – takes almost one’s breath away: Below, Lake Brienz and Thun glitter in the winter sun, from afar salute the mountains Eiger, Jungfrau, Mönch and the other 4,000-metre peaks of the Bernese Oberland.

Mainly experienced skiers and snowboarders and deep snow lovers attend this skiing area; in the second wider skiing resort below the village of Schwarzenegg the skiing public is more varied.

The undulating hillsides of the local ski resort between Sörenberg and Schwarzenegg are ideal for beginners. The ski run from the Mount Brienzer Rothorn to the Lake Eisee is feasible also for moderate skiers, but the steep valley run is suitable only for specialists.
