There is no doubt about it: Names like Chäseren-Alp, Chalberstöckl, Nieschplänggli or Chli Sternen make it clear to stay in the midst of the Swiss mountains. Once, the original landscape in the centre of Switzerland was known mainly among ski mountaineers – today, the family-friendly ski resort attracts a wider public.

The expanded holiday and sports resort Hoch-Ybrig is located at 900 to 1,850 metres above sea level, in the idyllic foothills of the Alps. Most guests stay in the villages Oberiberg and Unteriberg, because in Hoch-Ybrig there are available only few quarters. Oberiberg is one of the oldest ski resorts in Switzerland: The first tourists already came in 1859; the first ski school of Switzerland was founded here in 1934. The villages of the region preserved their quiet and comfortable atmosphere despite their long tradition as tourist destinations.

The centre of the skiing area of Hoch-Ybrig is a large and snowy basin around the small plateau Seebli, which is perfectly accessible by lifts and railways. The ski runs are located mostly on the northern side, in the upper section above the tree line. They provide sufficient space for easy and moderate slopes and on the stepper Mount Spirstock (1771 m) even some tours in the midst of deep powder snow.

In combination with the shuttle service from Weglosen (1035 m) and Oberiberg (1035 m) there is a small ski circuit with varied slopes, which include the slightly sloped ski runs next to the chair lift of Laucheren, pleasant slopes below the ridge and the black piste on the Mount Laucherenstöckli (1753 m).

The highlight is the valley run to Weglosen, which goes with 800 metres difference in altitude from Sternen in to the valley. There are many ski lodges throughout the ski resort, even on the three highest points there are some sunny and comfortable terraces.
