Flims Laax Falera

People in the Surselva - a magnificent landscape in the Vorderrhein Valley - don't mess around with trifles: The rockslide that descended 14.000 years ago is regarded as the largest one throughout Europe (at least in that era). And with more than 200 kilometres of slopes on more than 100 square kilometres of snow-sure hillsides, the ski resort of Flims, Laax and Falera is the largest winter sports area in Grisons.

During the last decades, this "White Arena" has emerged practically from nowhere - but not as quickly as the rockslide, which in a few seconds formed a completely new landscape. Thanks to new technology and new trends, the large skiing area is constantly at the speed of life. This attracts especially young people: In the summer, the region is a centre for bikers - in the winter a popular meeting point for snowboarders and free riders. The village Falera is somewhat farther away from the rush. The nice and car-free farming village is located on a sunny plateau and connected to the centre by a chair lift.

The winter sports area ranges from the Crap Sogn Gion (2228 m), Crap Masegn (2477 m) and La Siala (2810 m) to the glaciated Mount Bündner Vorab (3018 m) and it is reachable from the holiday villages Laax-Murschetg as well as from Flims. There is also a big cable car with direct connections to the Mount Nagens (2127 m).
