„Locknfest“ - Puddle Festival

19/04/2012

To conclude the winter season in a good way South Tyrol’s skiing mountain no. 1 – Mt. Kronplatz – on Sunday, 22nd April 2012, celebrates the funny, a little bit crazy and most of all wet festival called "Locknfest".

The “Locknfest” at Mt. Kronplatz near Bruneck takes place every other year. It has a quite long tradition and it is well-known even beyond the borders of the region as cheerful and wild rumpus that leaves nobody cold – and dry. In fact, the center of the festival is a little melt water pond or rather a large puddle (called “Locke” in South Tyrolean dialect). Daring participants try to cross over this puddle: on skis, snowboards, mobile and buoyant vehicles, wearing a swimsuit, a ski suit or a dirndl…

There are no restrictions placed on the choice of carriage or kit. The main thing is to reach the far side of the puddle and to traverse the ice-cold water – or to sink down in a very elegant or funny way. Of course life-guards supervise the event and an appealing supporting program with music, food, drink and après ski down in the valley is guaranteed, too.
