For everyone who has already not enough from the winter and who searches ski fun on fine spring time days, should come to the Schnalstal valley. Because here we are in the middle of the winter and won’t stop before the beginning for May.
The swim trunks are on, the sun is shining and the snow conditions are good - so let’s play some volleyball. But wait: Snow? For the participants of Snow Volleyball Tour that isn’t unusual at all. On Kronplatz in Bruneck you can have a closer look at this spectacle.

Every year in January the romantically dreamy village Ruhpolding becomes to a Mecca for biathlon fans. On 8th January 2013 the Chimgau Arena will open its doors for the Biathlon World Cup 2013.
From 10th to 14th January Meran is in the Olympic fever, because that’s when the Italian Special Winter Olympics will take place. The organizers reckon with more than 300 athletes from Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

It began as a small competition among freeski friends – and today it is a unique summer-ski event that helps freeskiers and freeskiing fans to get through the waiting time till the next season. This year’s edition of the Saas-Fee Ride is scheduled for the 28th July 2012. For most of the ski races the participants have to start in different categories according to age, male/female etc. However, for the Rivella Family Contests that’s not the case, because there all members of the family can show together how they can move on skis or snowboards. To conclude the winter and at the same time as finale of this year’s Family Contest season the popular family event takes place in Arosa.

You’ve already tried skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating? What about an enjoyable ride on a “Böckl”? The simplest model of this sports equipment consists of a short ski, a seat and two grab handles. As soon as you have mastered the quite easy riding technique, you can use your "Böckl" even for (more or less serious) speed competitions – as the "Böckl" race on Mt. Kronplatz impressively proves.
As regards the weather of course we are in the middle of the middle autumn. However they days already are noticeably shorter, in the morning you have to remove the ice from your windscreen, you’ve probably taken out your warm jumpers and boots and in many places the snow guns work at full stretch. It’s high time to dust also skis, snowboards, snowshoes and sledges and think about the first skiing days in this winter.
Keep one’s fingers crossed, watch with excitement, hope and celebrate: For passionate winter sportsmen the races of the Ski World Cup - Downhill, Super-G, Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super Combined - are more exciting than a TV thriller. If you want to see them live, you are spoilt for choice, because many ski races take place in the Alps.
