From the beginning of the winter season 2011/12 skiers don’t have to choose between the skiing areas Gitschberg-Meransen and Vals-Jochtal, because thanks to a modern funicular they can enjoy both. Each single one is a nice little skiing area for families, but together they offer great and carefree skiing fun for everyone.

Gitschberg Meransen

The small but sweet skiing area Meransen Gitschberg is located on the sunny plateau of Meransen, some kilometers from the valley entrance of Pustertal and far away from the hustle and bustle of alpine centers.

On the summit of Mt. Gitsch you will find some first-class panoramic slopes. Apart from a few black ski runs the ski area Gitschberg Meransen appears absolutely family-friendly. So there are suitable ski lifts and slopes for beginners and kids and also snowboarders don’t get the shaft.

Although the ski runs on the 2,500 m high mountain aren’t endlessly extended, they are characterized by diversity and variety. Resounding après-ski is rather a rare commodity. In return you will get pure winter idyll, impressive mountain scenery savory gastronomic offers. If you want more, you can widen your range of action to the neighboring ski areas Vals Jochtal and Plose.

Vals-Jochtal

Easy and short slopes and some black pistes, many other winter sport activities and a large number of entertainment programs off the snow make Vals Jochtal a popular winter holiday destination for young and old – and all that without bustle or long waiting times. The village Vals in the valley Jochtal is mainly characterized by short ways and a comfortable access to the family-friendly skiing area.

Many hotels and apartments are located directly besides the ski runs or in the immediate vicinity and also toboggan runs and a ski kindergarten are situated in the near distance. The slopes on Mt. Großberg directly in Vals are quite easy, whereas the pistes below Mt. Hinterberg are suitable also for more demanding skiers.
