Every year another skiing area is the scene for this important ski test that presents and checks the skis of the next winter season. This year it was the turn of the skiing area Silvretta-Montafon in Vorarlberg, Austria.

If you wait eagerly for the opening of the new winter season, you will surely like the offer made by the valley of Schnals in South Tyrol. One the one hand the snow-sure ski runs on the glacier are open almost all year round. On the other hand the winter is welcomed with a very special event: the telemark ski opening from 23rd November to 1st December 2013. A must for free-heel fans!

1.800 m long, up to 50% ascent, maximum 8 m off the ground and up to 40 km/h fast…these are the impressive facts about the longest and most exciting alpine roller-coaster of Italy, located in Klausberg in valley Ahrntal in South Tyrol.

After the last slope we would like to put skis and ski boots in the cellar, take out climbing boots and the backpack and don’t think about skiing until we see the first snowflakes again. But if you would like to use your skis also in the next winter, you should prepare them well for the summer break.

In the most pleasant time of year the weather invites you to go outside with the whole family. Especially if one is offered as much as at the Woody Walk in Brixen. There can be hiked, played and discovered in the midst of a beautiful mountain setting.

The lifts that are open throughout the winter season for skiing and snowboarding, do not close its doors in summer, indeed! Many districts in recent years have tried to offer something new and fun for all ages who love mountains even in summer!

For everyone who has already not enough from the winter and who searches ski fun on fine spring time days, should come to the Schnalstal valley. Because here we are in the middle of the winter and won’t stop before the beginning for May.

The swim trunks are on, the sun is shining and the snow conditions are good - so let’s play some volleyball. But wait: Snow? For the participants of Snow Volleyball Tour that isn’t unusual at all. On Kronplatz in Bruneck you can have a closer look at this spectacle.

Extreme speed, total suspense and vehicles that usually you will not find on the slopes; these are the ingredients for the Speedking in Carezza, which will be held at the beginning of April in the Skiing area Carezza.


The parallel giant slalom „Gardenissima“ will be held this year for the 17th time in St. Ulrich in Gröden and is the longest giant slalom of the Dolomites. Ski friends and enthusiastic of sports shouldn’t miss this event on Sunday 6th April 2013.

At the end of the winter season many experts of the sector ski rental and ski service will meet at the exhibition center in Bozen, in order to exchange their experiences at the international trade fairs "Prowinter" and "Alpitec" and to present the novelties for the next year.

At 2nd and 3rd March 2013 South Tyrol’s best freeriders get together for a competition and you can be part of it. The “Freeridehero” in Sulden is not only one of the largest events of its kind, but is probably the most beautiful freeride track in the entire country.

All tobogganing friends can’t miss this occasion: On February 22nd, the ski resort Reinswald in Sarntal invites you to a very special event. In the night between Friday and Saturday they organize moon light tobogganing rides, so from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm the ski lift is open.

In the Val di Fiemme Valley, preparations are in full swing for the Nordic World Ski Championships, which is held here already for the third time. As the venues for the competitions there are Predazzo and Tesero, while most of the awards ceremonies will take place in Cavalese.

The the international day of action is scheduled for the 20th January 2013 and it will be the biggest event on snow all year – with countless small and large specials all around the world.

From 10th to 14th January Meran is in the Olympic fever, because that’s when the Italian Special Winter Olympics will take place. The organizers reckon with more than 300 athletes from Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Traveling in a quick, comfortable and stress-free way into the skiing holiday – even during the peak travel period? Trains make it possible and moreover they reduce the travelling expenses, which may be quite high including petrol, tolls and new winter tires.

Bormio, Wengen and Kitzbühel and, of course, Gröden are the four classics among downhill ski races. You can watch the ski stars roaring off the legendary Saslong four times. The two trainings are followed by the Super G and the downhill.

From July 2012 the skiing area Reinswald in Sarntal offers a special attraction for families: the nature experience path “Urleisteig” with several exciting stages.

To conclude the winter season in a good way South Tyrol’s skiing mountain no. 1 – Mt. Kronplatz – on Sunday, 22nd April 2012, celebrates the funny, a little bit crazy and most of all wet festival called "Locknfest".

The simplest model of this sports equipment consists of a short ski, a seat and two grab handles. As soon as you have mastered the quite easy riding technique, you can use your "Böckl" even for (more or less serious) speed competitions – as the "Böckl" race on Mt. Kronplatz impressively proves.
