Oberammergau Kolben

Oberammergau is not only the town of the famous Passion Plays, but also a lively winter sport destination. Here there are the most precipitous ski-runs in Germany.

Cross-country skiers as well as winter hikers can take a walk following the footsteps of King Ludwig II – and all with the impressive mountain sceneries of the Upper Ammertal Valley in the background. Thanks to the dream-like landscapes and the numerous houses decorated with "Lüftlmalereien" (a special kind of wall-painting), Oberammergau, as a ski destination, becomes a wonderful and unforgettable pleasure experience.. Close to Oberammergau there are two other ski resorts: Kolben and Laber.

Most of the ski runs in Laber require some experience and courage: they aren’t groomed and are extremely precipitous. Less steep, but also challenging is the un-groomed ski-route to Soilasee Lake.

Beginners and families prefer the area of Kolben and the ski runs in Unterammergau.
